Evaluation of resting energy expenditure and body composition in obese patients
Jílková, Anna ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Zelinka, Tomáš (referee)
Introduction: The basis of obesity treatment is a conservative regimen based on a reduced diet and physical activity, individually set for each person. As the obese often show extreme deviations in body composition compared to individuals of normal weight, it is often difficult to determine their energy needs or determine their energy expenditure. The gold standard for determining resting energy expenditure (REE) is examination using indirect calorimetry (IC). This method can also detect deviations from the calculations of predictive equations, determine the degree of adaptation of the individual to low energy intake, and thus set the appropriate therapy. Objectives: The main objective of the work is the analysis and description of data on body composition and resting energy expenditure values of selected groups of obese individuals whose REE measurement results using indirect calorimetry reached a level below 95 % of the predicted REE calculated using the Harris Benedict (H-B) equation. The sub-goals are to describe the dependence of the size of some components of body composition on the size of the REE and to find out if the deviations between the number of the total measured REE and the REE calculated using H-B in the adapted group are significant. Methodology: For the research 71 patients of...
Comparative study eating habits university students.
ILLEOVÁ, Annemarie
My Bachelor thesis named "Comparative study of eating habits of university students" is focused on eating habits of research file, i.e. students from the fields of Health Education and National School. The theoretical part involves clarifying the impact of nutrition on an individual's health, describing the composition of the diet, from the point of view of macronutrients. The practical part analyses and evaluates the data collected from students. They provided the results of their weekly food income recorded in an application kaloricketabulky.cz. The thesis is focused on intake of fats, carbohydrates and proteins compared to the average recommended standards.

Title: Nutrition monitoring in top Czech Republic women white water slalom athletes in the race period of the season. Aim of the study: Comparison of actual quantitative and qualitative composition of the diet in the Czech water slalom paddlers (women) in the racing period to daily recommended standards for the population group of athletes with a corresponding energy output. Using the results, create both general and individual recommendations and assess the need for the use of supplements in the diet of water slalom athletes. Methods: The thesis is a case study and it is a kind of qualitative research. For our study we chose two main methods. Prospective study method and the method of interview. To determine the total daily energy intake and diet quality inventorial analysis of the four- day dietary record of the respondents was used. For comparison with the standards, the data were subsequently processed by standardized software applications of database functions MS Excel (Vilikus a kol., 2002) and accompanied by a critical commentary. To survey the data concerning use of food supplements has been used a method in which athletes respond to questions asked. The data were assessed in writing and graphically. Results: Our study shows and critically comment on the differences between recommended and...
Comparison of energy expenditure, puls rate and subjective perception of during road march with attached weight and without attached weight in winter conditions.

Title of the work: Comparison of energy expenditure, pulse rate and subjective perception of during road march with attached weight and without attached weight in winter conditions. The work tries to focus on comparing of physiological parameters during military road March. The aim of this bachelor work is to compare and to find out more about physiological strain of research group of soldiers during road March with or without loading. The group of 10 soldiers is made by the students of military department of faculty of sports and education Charles University from Prague. This research group was tested during the three periods. In the first period the group was tested during 10 km walking March without loading. In the second period the group was tested with the loading of 15 kg and in the third period with the loading of 25 kg. The aim of the work is to compare the outlay of energy, cardial rate and the subjective feeling of the strain during walking tours with or without loading. To find out the pulse rate I used as a tool the sport testers and to find out the subjective feeling of the strain I decided to use the adjusted Borg scale. The outlay of energy was calculated from the entrance data of the tested people and from the measuring pulse rate. The results: From the recorded data we can find out...

Kokštejn, Jan ; Kokštejn, Jakub (advisor) ; Frýbort, Pavel (referee)
Title of Bachelor thesis: Physical activity for health in sport youth Author: Bc. Jan Kokštejn Head of work: Mgr. Jakub Kokštejn, Ph.D. Aim: Findings the size of physical activity in youth soccer players during a week mode and comparison of selected indicators with recommendations of physical aktivity for health promotion. To identify possible differences in physical activity between younger (16-17 years old) and older (18-19 years old) players in adolescent category. Methods: The research samples consist of younger soccer players (n=25; 16,2±0,9 years old) and older soccer players (n=25; 18,6±0,3 years old). Accelerometers Actigraph GT3X were used for determining level of physical activity during the week. Results: The average daily amount of modern to high intensity physical activity exceeded in both groups of soccer players worldwide used recommendations, which is 60 minutes. For daily number of steps, the group of younger players exceeded recommended amount according to Sigmund et al. (2005). The group of older players remained just below this threshold, but within the recommended range. In terms of energy output both groups reached values between 8-9 kcal.kg-1 .day-1 , according to selected criteria met physical activity recommendations. Energy output value and the number of steps did not...
Functional Profile of Performance Billiard Players
Manda, Filip ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Zahálka, František (referee)
Title: Functional Profile of Performance Billiard Players Objectives: The main aim of thesis was to find out maximal functional characteristics and body composition of performance billiard players by using laboratory testing. Next step was to define load intensity during simulated match. Methods: There were used biomedical measurements as a body measuring, bioelectrical impedance, laboratory spiroergometric measuring by maximal stress testing. Field spiroergometric measuring was provide during simulated match in pool hall. To find the role of physical fitness in performance billiard were used half structured interview with open questions and online survey. Results: The findings show that tested billiard players achieve levels of physical fitness from average to very good values. But some of them are classified as overweight and obese. Long-time playing billiard does not have any important influence on asymetric composition of muscle mass of upper limbs. During playing billiard an oxygen consumption didn't get over 30% of VO2max and values of heart rate were between 39 to 59% HRmax. During playing billiard an energy expenditure grows from 222 to 330% of BM. Billiard energetic demands of tested players are moving between 14,6 kJ to 29,3 kJ. Another result of thesis is a statement about the role of...

Hepnar, Jan ; Vomáčko, Ladislav (advisor) ; Jindra, Matouš (referee)
Title The energy performance at the growth rate in ski-mountaineering Objectives Measure group skialpinists of different ages and performance of the ski-mountaineering simulator with a gradient 21ř and speed 1,4 km/h to 5,4 km/h with increasing 0,4 km/h in every minute. Determine their energy expenditure in different speeds as the speed increases and with constant slope. Methods Seven ski-mountaineerers of different levels were testing in laboratory of ski-mountaineering simulator. We calculate of maximum oxygen consumption and anaerobic threshold. Results The probands attained average energy expenditure 8,18 kJ per minute at the end of the first minutes and they attained average energy expenditure 29,32 kJ per minute at the end of the 10th minutes. The average energy expenditure of probands increased by 2,35 kJ per minute an average with a standard deviation 0,69 kJ per minute. Keywords ski-mountaineering, heart rate, oxygen consumption, ski-mountaineer trainer.
Determination of exercise post-oxygen consumption (EPOC) following resistance training, and aerobic exercise
Galertová, Alena ; Petr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Sedlak, Petr (referee)
Oxygen debt repayment after completion of intense muscular activity reflects the significant involvement of anaerobic metabolism druring exercise. Some studies have reported an increased oxygen consumption even after 24 to 48 hours after strength training character, while after the activities of lower intensity (the aerobic exercise) is the oxygen consumption increased only in the order of several hours. In common practice, especially in the selection of the most suitable forms of exercise to increase energy expenditure in the general population, this is not usually a calculated factor. The aim of the thesis is the comparison of the energy expenditure by using indirect calorimetry and monitoring of selected individuals and at intervals after completion intense muscular activity and after aerobic exercise.
